Anne Quinlan worked for years as an art therapist before deciding to pick up a paint brush herself. Since she began making art for friends and family, the Mount Airy woman founded Twin Pixie Studios, where she creates mixed media paintings, collages and jewelry to sell at The Muse store in downtown Frederick and online. Quinlan, was working at Turnaround Inc. in Baltimore helping children and adolescents cope with sexual assault and domestic violence trauma. A portion of her proceeds benefit the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Quinlan’s artwork features vintage photographs, papers, text and some of her favorite quotes, like this one from T.S. Eliot: “We shall not cease from exploration; and the end of our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” She is writing articles in Journal of the American Art Therapy Association.
